2022 STANFORD NURSING ANNUAL REPORT

Welcome: Welcome

Message from CNE Dale Beatty

Dear colleagues and partners,

It is my privilege to present the Stanford Nursing Annual Report of 2022. As we reflect on the past year, we cannot ignore the challenges brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

However, as a team, we have demonstrated remarkable resilience and collaborative recovery, navigating through dynamic changes and rising through the tides.   We have stood together, advocating for our patients and each other, fostering a caring environment that integrates Jean Watson's Caring Science, and expanding our interprofessional community.

At Stanford Medicine, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected and leveraging our team's diverse perspectives and experiences to provide the best possible care for our patients.  We are intentional and dedicated to enhancing diversity, inclusion and promoting health equity for our patients, one another, and our community.

Alongside these efforts for an inclusive environment, we have an ongoing enterprise-wide partnership to create a safe working environment and reduce workplace violence.  We understand that a safe work environment is fundamental to providing exceptional patient care, and we remain dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and respect for all team members.

Our commitment to excellence and transformational leadership has led to international influence through Programs like the Magnet4Europe, the International Knowledge Exchange program relaunch, and the visiting Nurse Practitioners from the Netherlands.  These partnerships have enabled us to share our knowledge and best practices, contributing to the advancement of nursing worldwide.

The 2022 Annual Nursing Report highlights the commitment of our nursing community to uplift the nursing profession through interdisciplinary, evidence-based practice projects, process improvement initiatives, and individual and collective exemplary professional practices.  Our team's dedication to continuous learning and improvement has enabled us to implement innovative solutions that have positively impacted patient outcomes, nurse satisfaction, and patient experience.

This report previews a few of the many exemplars mentioned above, most showcased not only in internal communication platforms (i.e., CNE newsletter, SHC intranet, Grand Rounds) but proudly via external communications and some published through peer-reviewed journals.

Lastly, I am delighted to reflect on our first in-person SLC retreat after more than two years of the pandemic.  This event was a testament to our resilience and commitment to unity, and we look forward to continuing to work together to achieve our shared vision.

We are incredibly proud of the many achievements of our nursing community, and we are committed to continuing to promote excellence in nursing practice through ongoing education, research, and innovation.

Thank you to all our nurses and healthcare partners across the organization for your dedication to our shared vision of promoting health and well-being, advancing knowledge and innovation, and improving the lives of those we serve.  We look forward to continuing to work together to achieve these goals as a leader in healthcare.

With respect and admiration,
