International Nurse Practitioners Visit

Visiting Dutch Nurse Practitioners

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) had emphasized the theme for the May 2022 International Nurses Month as "Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health," with a focus on the need to protect, support, and invest in the nursing profession to strengthen health systems around the world. Along with this theme, Stanford Health Care, has taken pride in its ongoing commitment to international partnerships and global influence.

After two years of strict COVID-19 guidelines, Stanford Nursing again opened its doors to its international partners. At the beginning of May, 55 international visitors from the Netherlands had been hosted. This group of Dutch Nurse Practitioners had toured various Bay Area Magnet-Recognized organizations to gain insights into systems that embraced and championed a culture of nursing excellence and exemplary professional practice. During this visit, the Advanced Practice Providers and the Nursing Excellence Department collaborated to showcase the organization's nursing and interprofessional excellence to international guests.

The organization also acknowledged its partners from the offices of Compliance, Interpreter Services, Security, and Workforce Health and Wellness for their support. The interdepartmental coordination and each team's tremendous assistance allowed the organization to pursue its dedication to influencing the global healthcare system through international knowledge-exchange programs while keeping its patients and professional community safe during this lingering pandemic.
